A local man spent the beginning minutes of Monday?s tornado outside, catching the action on camera.
?As soon as I?d seen these dark clouds, I knew something vicious was going to happen,? Raul Laguerre says. ?It was just like fate, I had the camera.?
Laguerre?s video shows dark clouds forming, lightning striking and winds whipping. He continued to stand in the midst of the storm, taping it all, until something happened that made him nervous.
?The weather just dropped like 20 degrees,? he says. ?And since that happened, I know there are two things that are going to happen. We got hail, and my screen door started flying, so I ran inside.?
The tornado touched down three times just half a mile away from where Laguerre was located, and it left a path of destruction behind that was a mile long. Power lines were ripped down, and trees were snapped into pieces.
The tornado was the eighth to hit Orange County since 1969.
