Newburgh man gets 9-year prison sentence for role in gun, drug trafficking operation

A Newburgh man has been sentenced to nine years in prison for charges related to a major drug and gun trafficking operation.
The Orange County Prosecutor’s Office says 33-year-old Shomaray Lane pleaded guilty to criminal sale of a controlled substance after admitting to selling more than two ounces of cocaine.
This comes after an eight-month long multiagency investigation dubbed “Operation Powder Burn.”
Authorities say they made 55 controlled gun purchases during the investigation. They also recovered large sums of cocaine, fentanyl and cash.
Prosecutors have called it the largest gun trafficking case in county history.
A total of twenty people were charged with firearm, narcotics and conspiracy offenses following the investigation.
