A Newburgh mom is seeking justice in the unsolved death of her daughter – one year after the young woman was found dead under suspicious circumstances.
Myla Williams was just 22 years old when she died last October in the City of Newburgh.
Myla's mom says she found her daughter at a house on South William Street naked and unresponsive, after getting a call from a man inside the home.
Lashon Williams says she saw two men inside the house with her daughter when she died and believes they waited hours to call for help.
"She's laying down and this boy is on the side of her in the room wiping her off. These boys need to be in jail," says Williams.
Police confirm to News 12 that the house is a known drug spot and that an autopsy showed the young woman had narcotics and opiates in her system when she died, as well as a gash on her head and a bruise on her lip.
"She slipped through the cracks, and I want justice for my daughter," says Williams.
Police say the men involved are not cooperating and that so far, there's not enough evidence of foul play to press charges.
While her cause of death is currently listed as “unknown,” Myla's mom says she'll never stop searching for answers in hopes one day there's closure for herself and the two little girls Myla left behind.
City of Newburgh Police say Myla's death remains under investigation.
Anyone with information is asked to call police.
