Newburgh mom Lashon Williams says she will never forget the last time she saw her daughter.
“She had a gash on her forehead and a bruise on her mouth,” said Lashon Williams. “She had blood on the inside of her mouth. She was naked. She had nothing on when I saw her.”
Myla Williams, 22, died on Oct. 23, 2020. She was allegedly with three men who gave her drugs inside their apartment on South William Street.
“They watched her die. This was a Percocet that had fentanyl in it and they left her,” said Williams.
Williams says her daughter called for help in the middle of the night from inside the men’s apartment but hung up before she could say where she was.
“The whole day goes by here it is – one, two o’clock. This boy calls my oldest daughter and says, 'Come get your sister,'” said Williams. “When I get upstairs, the boy is wiping her off. He’s wiping her down below.”
News 12 obtained a copy of Myla’s autopsy, which shows narcotics and opiates in her system.
The cause of death is listed as unknown.
News 12 reached out to police about the case now and when it was first reported.
No one got back to News 12 as of Thursday, but authorities previously said the men weren’t cooperating and that there wasn’t enough evidence to press charges.
“I have a real problem with Newburgh police right now,” said Williams. “I contacted the attorney general because I’m not going to let this go. It’s not just my kid, it’s everybody’s kid. They’re dying and the police are not doing anything.”
Myla Williams leaves behind two young girls – who are 4 and 6 years old.
They now live with their grandmother who says they ask about their mom every day.
