A woman was found strangled and stabbed to death inside her Newburgh apartment Monday afternoon, police say.
Authorities say a relative found the body of 45-year-old Lulumae Stewart at Barclay Manor on Hy Vue Drive after not hearing from her for several days.
"There was evidence of a struggle, and the medical examiner just finished the autopsy and concluded it's a homicide," says Lt. Michael Clancy, of the Newburgh Police Department.
Police say Stewart's brother, Larry Weygant, is currently serving time for a 1999 murder.
