The first major winter storm of 2021 might finally be over, but the impact it had on the vaccine rollout across the state is still being felt.

After fighting hard to land the highly coveted COVID-19 vaccine appointments, there are still hundreds of vaccine seekers across the Hudson Valley waiting to find out exactly when they'll be able to get their first dose.

The marathon nor'easter dumped more than a foot of snow in many parts of the area, crippling the vaccination efforts underway at five state-run mega-sites, including the one at the Westchester County Center, which was closed for a second day on Tuesday.

Gov. Andrew Cuomo is promising that no one will lose an appointment, and that new time slots will be provided when conditions are safer.

The delay - while understandable - is unwelcome news for people who have reached out to the Turn To Tara team. They say their hope is 'melting' away amid a critical shortage of doses across the tri-state.

News 12 was told people with postponed appointments will receive an email or text message to reschedule their vaccinations for later this week.

Those who aren't contacted within the next day or two should call the Vaccine Hotline at 833-NYS-4VAX.

The governor's team assured News 12's Tara Rosenblum that the vaccines are being stored in a way that there are no concerns this week of any doses going bad or spoiling before their expiration.
