At least one person is dead following separate crashes involving three vehicles on the Sprain Brook Parkway in Greenburgh Monday, police say.
State police say the first collision involved two men from Boston traveling in a Honda Civic when the driver struck an Acura driven by a Haverstraw man around 1 a.m.
News 12 is told the driver of the Honda Civic was killed on impact. His passenger and the Haverstraw man suffered injuries not believed to be life-threatening.
Police say the second crash happened right afterward when a Ford Fusion side-swiped the Honda Civic involved in the first collision.
The two occupants inside the Ford Fusion were not injured.
Police are investigating possible criminal charges, but they are not expected to come today.
All northbound lanes were closed for nearly five hours at the Jackson Avenue exit. All lanes have been reopened, and traffic is moving freely.
Police say both incidents remain under investigation.
This is just the latest fatal crash in the Hudson Valley in the last week. This includes:
  • Four teens and a speeding driver killed in Yonkers last Tuesday
  • A young city girl killed during a police chase in Ulster that same night
  • A mother from Ossining killed in a wrong-way alleged drunk driving crash in Peekskill on Wednesday
  • And one person killed last night on the Newburgh-Beacon Bridge
