A couple from
Nyack who became a social media phenomenon is hitting the national stage with a
new HGTV show called "Cheap Old Houses."
Elizabeth and Ethan Finkelstein’s Instagram show features old homes in need of
assistance from coast to coast.
In just five years, they’ve gained millions of
followers and now, a brand-new show.
“We're kinda like the Sarah McLachlan of dogs, we
want these houses saved and in people,” says Ethan Finkelstein. "We won’t stop until every old home is saved.”
Elizabeth tells News 12 the show was started as a fun idea.
"By no stretch of the imagination did we ever think an old house account
would have 1.6 million people and a show, that never occurred to us,” says Elizabeth Finkelstein.
Viewers can watch
the show beginning Aug. 9. Each episode features a look inside three cheap old
houses all under $150,000.
"We preach slow renovation, restoration over renovation and preach doing
things at your own pace and saving money as you go along,” says Elizabeth Finkelstein.
Ethan says it’s a "must watch" for any HGTV junkie.
