The NYPD says a 40-year-old man was fatally shot in the chest and leg Wednesday afternoon.

The shooting happened just before 1:30 p.m. on 198th Street and Pond Avenue, according to police.

Authorities say the man, who is from Yonkers, was identified as Kavon Reid. They say he was taken to SBH Health System, where he later died. Police say Reid was shot twice, once in the chest and once in the leg.

Surveillance video shows Reid walking up 198th Street on his phone, and then the suspect is seen lifting his arm and pulling the trigger.

One resident says they heard multiple shots and that their block is usually quiet.

Officials say the suspect was last seen wearing a gray hoodie, black pants, gray sneakers and a blue facemask.

The NYPD encourages anyone with any information to call the Crime Stoppers tipline at 800-577-TIPS.
