NYPD Commissioner Bill Bratton has announced a new plan to help reduce cases of alleged police brutality.
Bratton says his department will begin an annual three-day training program to keep officers refreshed after the police academy.
The course will emphasize how cops should talk to uncooperative people without getting physical. It will also focus on how officers can restrain someone who resists arrest without hurting themselves or the suspect.
It'll start as a pilot in three precincts this November, but will eventually expand to include all officers on patrol citywide.
The move follows the police chokehold death of Staten Island dad Eric Garner back in July.
