An NYPD officer who works in the Bronx has been indicted on attempted murder and drunken driving charges after an apparently random off-duty shooting of a man in Westchester.
Officer Brendan Cronin is accused of walking up to a car stopped at a Pelham traffic light back in April and shooting the passenger six times. Cronin was arrested a few blocks away, where police say he was driving drunk.
The passenger, who survived the shooting, and the driver in that car say they plan to sue both the police officer and the city.
The city's law department has not yet commented on the suit.
