Obama, McCain supporters reach out to voters
With less than three days left before Election Day, local campaign workers from both parties are stepping up their efforts to win the White House.
GOP officials in Westchester are busy calling voters and reminding them to cast their ballots for John McCain Nov. 4. Some even ventured outside the area, traveling to swing states that could decide the election.
?We also have numerous McCain volunteers throughout Westchester heading out to Pennsylvania, some going to Ohio,? says Douglas Colety, of the McCain for President Committee. ?We have phone bank operators here and at other parts of the county where they're making calls into battleground states such as Florida.?
In New Rochelle, supporters of Barack Obama held a Vote for Hope rally at City Hall, trying to convince undecided voters to cast their ballots for the Democratic candidate.
?I think he's going to bring real change, I think that he truly is what American values stand for,? says Obama supporter Angelique Francis, ?and he is the change that we need in New Rochelle.?
Local Democrats say they are planning to follow election results at the Rye Town Hilton Tuesday night, while Republicans will be stationed at the Crowne Plaza in White Plains.
