? President-elect Barack Obama is honoring Martin Luther King Monday, one day before his historic inauguration.
Obama is taking part in a nationwide day of community service as he prepares to take the oath of office on Tuesday. The inauguration events kicked off with a concert on Sunday, where Obama invoked the memory of King.
?Never forget that the true character of our nation is revealed not during times of comfort and ease, but by the right we do when the moment is hard,? said Obama. ?I ask you to help reveal that character once more. And, together, we can carry forward as one nation and one people??
Future first lady Michelle Obama as well as Vice President-elect Joe Biden are spending the day involved in service projects.
Officials say Biden will get sworn in first at the West Front of the U.S. Capitol Tuesday, followed by Obama, who will officially take the oath of office at noon Eastern time.
