West Point officials announced yesterday that President Barack Obama will be speaking at this year?s graduation ceremony on May 22.
Cadets tell News 12 they are excited to hear from their commander-in-chief, but some residents say the announcement comes as no surprise.
?We?ve had presidents here in the past, so I think it follows tradition,? says Lynda Bashoor, of Highland Falls.
Obama has visited the military academy before, speaking about his plan to send 30,000 additional troops abroad back in December.
Defense Secretary Robert Gibbs spoke to last year?s graduating class.
