A state police investigator was charged with DWI in a Thursday night crash that occurred while he was off-duty in the Town of Cortlandt.

State police say it all stemmed from when a sedan struck the rear of a vehicle that was stopped at a red light on East Main Street.

The vehicle fled the scene before the driver parked in the Hudson Valley Hospital parking lot.

That’s where police found 51-year-old Richard Miller, of Putnam Valley.

Authorities sat Miller, who is assigned to Troop NYC, was issued an appearance ticket and released to a third party.

He was suspended without pay.
