Officer injured in Brooklyn shooting; suspect at large

An NYPD officer is hurt after police say he and his partner were caught in the crossfire of a shooting in Brownsville.
Investigators say the two officers they were driving along Pitkin Avenue when the gunfire erupted. Police say a person opened fire on Pitkin Avenue and Legion Street Thursday afternoon with one of the bullets hitting a NYPD cruiser.
The detective was released from the hospital last night. The shattered glass from his police cruiser remains in the street while the gunman is still at large.
Sources say 26-year-old NYPD Detective Sunjay Verma was in the driver's seat. His arm was injured, although it's unclear if it was by the bullet or the glass that shattered when the bullet came through.
The shooting happened just steps from Brownsville Ascend Charter School. Police say the gun was recovered at the scene.
Police are offering a $10,000 reward on top of the CrimeStoppers reward for anyone with information that can lead to an arrest and conviction.
