City officials in Newburgh say squatters are to blame for a fire earlier this month that injured two firefighters and required five departments for mutual aid.
Authorities say a candle being used for light ignited flames inside the otherwise vacant building at 11 South Miller St. on April 9.
Two firefighters suffered minor injuries and were treated and released at the scene.
No one else was injured during the blaze.
Authorities say this is the second fire at the building due to squatters and that the owner was told both times to board up and secure the home.
