The Orange County District Attorney says Lynn T. Simpson, of the Washington Heights Fire Company in Wallkill, stole nearly $18,000 meant for a parade.

Simpson was the financial secretary of the fire company. She pled guilty to larceny on Friday.

The Orange County DA says that she was the co-chair of the parade committee when she made 83 unauthorized withdrawals between August 2022 and September 2023.

As News 12 previously reported, the parade was canceled as a result, just days before the event when the investigation into Simpson and another fire company official began.

The DA says Simpson will repay the money as part of the plea agreement.

Simpson is expected to serve 5 years on probation under a negotiated sentence, according to the Orange County District Attorney's Office. Sentencing is scheduled for Jan 17, 2025.
