A 51-year-old Orange County man was killed Sunday night in a hit-and-run accident on the northbound Bruckner Expressway in the Bronx, police said.
Armando Rodriguez, of Middletown, was struck by a vehicle that veered from the right lane onto the shoulder near Exit 8-B, according to the NYPD. The car also struck a Toyota Camry that had pulled over near the exit.
The vehicle that struck Rodriguez fled the scene. Officials say Sadiel Ramirez Payano, 21, was arrested and charged with leaving the scene without reporting and aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle.
It is unknown at this time why Rodriguez was walking on the Bruckner Expressway.
