Law enforcement officials are warning the public about a paving scam trend targeting residents in Orange County.

Police say crews are going door-to-door and offering unsolicited driveway paving or sealing services.

They demand inflated payments in cash and then perform substandard work that quickly deteriorates.

Police say requesting full cash payments prior to starting the job is not standard practice for reputable paving companies.

They advise residents to be wary of individuals who lack business cards, refuse to provide estimates in writing, or avoid providing full names.

Anyone who believes they have been victimized is urged to call the Orange County Sheriff's Office Investigations Bureau at 845-862-403.
