They say scammers in and near the county are posing as property owners using fake documents and identification.

They then use realtors to sell homes or land to unsuspecting buyers.

Authorities say scammers will tell their victims that they cannot meet in person and try to close the deal quickly.

Law enforcement officials urge residents to be cautious and never believe a deal that seems too good to be true.

Anyone who believes they’ve been victimized in the scam is urged to call the sheriff’s office.
