Orangetown police say a former part-time Tappan Zee High School track coach is accused of sexually abusing several male students on the team during an 18-month period.
Albert Michael Andrew, 34, of Haverstraw, is accused of inappropriately touching several track team students in their private areas. Police say three incidents occurred in May 2005 and two other incidents occurred between January and May 2004. The victims were 17 and 18 years old.
Orangetown detectives say one student came forward with the allegations this week and investigations have led to five students giving information on incidents involving Andrew. Andrew, who also teaches in the East Ramapo schools, was charged with endangering the welfare of a minor and five counts of third-degree sexual abuse.
The school superintendent says Andrew no longer works for the district and adds they are conducting their own internal investigation, while working with the police.
