State police say an Orange County woman has been arrested for stabbing her father Wednesday night in Otisville.
Kimberly Mann, 36, is charged with assault and criminal possession of a weapon.
Authorities say her father, 66-year-old Sherman Mann, is in critical but stable condition at Garnet Medical Center in the Town of Wallkill.
The incident happened at their home on Harding Street at approximately 6:20 p.m., according to police.
Officials say the pair were involved in a verbal altercation when the stabbing happened, and that first responding EMS and firefighters rendered lifesaving care to the victim.
A neighbor News 12 spoke to says he wasn’t home when the incident occurred but returned to the normally quiet neighborhood to find police next-door and a crime scene. “We were out and just came home and everybody was already busy,” says the man, who asked not to be identified.
Mann was arraigned Monday in City of Middletown court and was ordered to Orange County Jail on $25,000 cash bail.
The case is the third incident involving a parent injured or killed by their adult child that News 12 has reported on in recent weeks.
Town of Mount Hope police say the incident is the first call for domestic violence at the family’s residence. So far, it’s not clear what may have prompted the alleged argument or stabbing.
“All I do is care about the family,” says a neighbor. “As long as they are OK, that’s that.”
