A home in Mahopac was destroyed by fire overnight.
Mahopac Falls Fire Chief Dan Meury says that they received a call just before 2 a.m. concerning a fire on Old Bullet Hole Road.
Upon reaching the scene, responders found the house entirely consumed by flames.
The firefighting effort posed challenges due to the remote location of the house. With the main water source situated over a mile away, mutual aid with tankers and relay hoses were necessary to transport water to the fire.
It took approximately 60-75 firefighters about an hour and a half to put out the flames.
The occupants were outside the residence when the crews arrived, and no injuries were reported.
Meury stated that an investigation into the fire's cause is ongoing. There are no indications of suspicious activity at this time.
