The Police Athletic League launched its annual Playstreet program Monday, giving children throughout the city a safe haven to play outside.
The program, started in 1914, closes off certain streets during the day so children can play safely. Playstreet also provides cultural activities and life skills lessons for children.
The Bronx has 13 streets that are designated for Playstreet programs.
The streets will be closed Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. until the end of August.
