The Palisades Center, a major shopping mall in Rockland County, will receive $27.5 million in tax refunds after successfully challenging property tax assessments.

The Clarkstown School District will contribute the largest portion of the refund, totaling $18 million.

The town of Orangetown will contribute $7.8 million, and Rockland County will contribute $1.7 million.

Officials say the settlement protects taxpayers and prevents future tax increases.

The Palisades Center, a major retail destination in the county, had argued that its property was assessed at a higher value than warranted.
