Parents are demanding that school board officials and the superintendent of the Blind Brook-Rye Union Free School District step down after the state closed Ridge Street School over safety concerns.
They say school officials put their children in harm's way by allowing them to attend classes inside the building where safety violations, including fire safety issues, were discovered during a state inspection earlier this week.
The parents say their children will be forced to return to remote learning and are calling for Superintendent Patrick Brimstein and School Board Vice President Scott Jaffee to step down.
There will be no classes held at the Ridge Street School until further notice.
Many parents are demanding the state finds a safe location where children can learn in-person at least until next year.
