Many parents are sending off their kids to summer camp Friday after activities were canceled last year due to the pandemic.
Kids boarded the bus in White Plains on Friday to head to the Salvation Army Camp Star Lake in Bloomingdale, New Jersey.
Major Jenny Alarcon, of the Salvation Army White Plains, says the campers will be climbing ropes, boating and doing other outdoor activities.
This is the first time the camp will just be a one-day event instead of a sleepaway camp.
Alarcon says the program is important for kids emotionally and socially, especially since many were isolated last summer due to COVID-19.
