State transportation officials say they hope to reopen the southbound lanes on the Saw Mill River Parkway in Hastings on Hudson overnight after they were closed because of a partial collapse near Exit 13.

Officials say the collapse happened Sunday evening when a pipe below the road deteriorated.

They say weather also played a role in its breakdown.

Hastings on Hudson resident Tommy McMullen says he called emergency crews about the incident on Sunday.

"Me and my pal Peyton were coming around the block and I saw this lady hit the hole here, or the bump as they called it, and she was actually airborne for about 30 feet," McMullen says. "So, I kind of jogged home a little bit. We called and they came right away."

State transportation officials say crews worked through the night so they could open the northbound lanes.

Police say drivers going south are being diverted off of the parkway at the I-87 exit in Elmsford.
