At a special state budget meeting in Albany this afternoon, state lawmakers said that avoiding cuts to state education funding has been one of the biggest obstacles in trying to reach a state budget, now more than two months overdue.
Paterson called lawmakers to Albany in the hopes of finally reaching an agreement on a state budget to allow for local districts to plan their own budgets accordingly.
School districts like Yonkers, which is facing upwards of 100 education job cuts, say that they have no other choice but to make cuts since they still don't know how much funding they will receive from the state.
