Pelham Bay library patrons complain rowdy kids are causing problems where there should be peace and quiet.
"There's always a whole bunch of kids hanging around there," says Genesis Rodriguez. "And they're not even using the library."
Patrons of the library, located at 3060 Middletown Rd., say children from nearby P.S. 71 are often outside the branch fighting, screaming and yelling when school is dismissed.
"[Libraries] are not supposed to be hangouts or day care centers either," says state Sen. Jeffrey Klein. He wants New York Public Library officials to visit the site and determine how they can provide better security and programs for the children.According to the kids, no playgrounds or parks are in the immediate area.
