The Penguin Plunge, a fundraiser for the families of ill children, marked the event’s 18th year Sunday in Nyack’s Memorial Park.

Around 600 people are estimated to have been in attendance.

“…They’re not alone. Because no one should plunge alone, and no one should be alone when their children have needs that we can all help," said Barbara Noyes, executive director of the Penguin Plunge.

This year, the group is fundraising for Brielle Gaine, Luke Garrecht and Zach Dolinksy. The organization's fundraising goal is $150,000, which will go directly back to their families.

With temperatures only reaching 32 degrees today, conditions were perfect for a dip in the Hudson River.

According to the Penguin Plunge website, the organization has helped 39 children and has raised over $1 million in total contributions.

Donations can be made on the Penguin Plunge website.
