A personal trainer is reportedly coming to a Bronx high school as part of a new health program.
According to a New York Post report, the city is spending $160,000 to launch Health Corps in three city schools. Health officials say Health Corps aims to stop the growing obesity and diabetes rates in the Bronx by teaching students about nutrition, mental health and exercise.
Students at Theodore Roosevelt High School will be given pedometers to help track their daily physical activity as part of the program. Chefs from the Natural Gourmet Cooking School will also be in the schools to teach students how to choose and prepare healthy foods.
