One of the pilots that was rescued after his single-engine plane crashed into the Hudson River off the Yonkers City Recreation Pier spoke out for the first time Tuesday.

Flight instructor, 43-year-old John Eberle says he?s unsure how long he was in the Hudson Monday before an NYPD helicopter rescued him. Engine trouble forced Eberle and student pilot 44-year-old Mark Sorey down in the cold water. Eberle says his training kicked in and he was able to safely land on the river and get out. A U.S. Coast Guard helicopter was able to rescue Sorey. The student pilot is listed in good condition at Jacobi Medical Center.

The plane is still at the bottom of the Hudson in about 50 feet of water. A barge is at the site and officials are expected to try to pull the plane out Wednesday.Related Article:
