Pine Bush man pleads guilty to aggravated vehicular assault that left teen paralyzed

Officials say Chauncey Smith crashed into a car head-on along State Route 17K in Newburgh last August, leaving the teen and another person seriously injured.

A Pine Bush man pleaded guilty Monday to aggravated vehicular assault in a crash that left a 15-year-old paralyzed, Orange County District Attorney David Hoovler said.

Chauncey Smith crashed into a car head-on along State Route 17K in Newburgh last August, leaving the teen and another person seriously injured.

Smith admitted to police he was driving while high on cannabis.

Smith faces up to nine years in prison when he's sentenced in July.
