Dozens of families lost loved ones to 9/11-related illnesses in the years after the Sept. 11 attacks.
For years, many families who lost loved ones due to these illnesses have longed for some recognition for their loved ones.
There will now be a memorial in Westchester County that honors them.
Two plaques were unveiled that overlook The Rising, located at the Kensico Dam in Valhalla, with the 41 victims in Westchester who have passed on due to these illnesses.
On the wall were many of the Westchester-based first responders and workers who helped out at ground zero or were exposed to the elements in the days and weeks after the terrorist attack.
The private unveiling on Friday was for loved ones of the first responders. There will be an official public unveiling of these plaques on Sept. 11 during the 9/11 remembrance ceremony there.
