A shooting in the City of Newburgh Sunday afternoon sent one person to the hospital, police say.

It happened around noon at the intersection of South Street and Liberty Street outside two churches holding their Sunday morning services.

The churches were not connected to the shooting, according to police.

Police say they recovered about a dozen shell casings from the scene.

Information about the victim was not immediately available.
