Police say the father purchased fireworks from a local vendor and allowed his son to use them.
The home erupted in flames, prompting firefighters to respond to the scene on Elmendorf Street.
Crews extinguished the fire. No injuries were reported.
Police say the father was issued an appearance ticket.
