Police say they found six dogs, eight cats, a lizard and a hedgehog living in unsanitary conditions at a home on Washington Avenue in Torrington.
They say the animals were dehydrated and underweight.
Police say Nicolina Scalora and Gregory Zarins face 16 counts of animal cruelty.
