Police: 44-year-old man fatally shot in Yonkers

Yonkers police responded to a report of shots fired in the area of 98 Locust Hill Avenue around 3:15 p.m.

Police say one person is dead after a shooting in Yonkers Wednesday afternoon.

Yonkers police responded to a report of shots fired in the area of 98 Locust Hill Ave. around 3:15 p.m.

Police located a 44-year-old male victim with a gunshot wound to his left side opposite 98 Locust Hill Ave. Officers immediately began rendering medical aid to the victim and transported him to a local area hospital. The victim succumbed to his injuries shortly after arriving at the hospital.

Other responding officers cordoned off the area and initiated a criminal investigation. During a canvass of the area, officers recovered a firearm and a potential suspect was taken into custody.
