A 6-year-old girl was hit by bus sometime around 11:15 a.m. on South Madison Avenue, according to Spring Valley police.
The road was closed between Funston Avenue and Hillman Place for hours during their investigation.
Authorities were seen taking photos and surveying a private school bus that had the name “UTA Transportation” along its side.
News 12 reached out to the bus company for comment but did not hear back.
“I’m devastated. I can’t imagine being that family. I really can’t,” said one woman who lives in the area.
News 12 is working to find out more about the girl and what led to this tragedy.
Spring Valley police say their investigation continues.
This is the second time a child has been hit and killed by a bus recently in Rockland County.
As News 12 previously reported on Jan. 29, an 8-year-old boy died in New Square after he was hit by a bus.
