A multi-agency task force led by FBI agents arrested 12 suspects during a gang raid in various parts of Newburgh this morning.
Law enforcement officials say the raid started at around 5:30 a.m. and was wrapped up by 8:30 a.m. Police say the raid resulted in the arrests of 12 members of the "The Newburgh Bloods."
The 32-count indictment charges members and associates of the Bloods with drug dealing, racketeering, narcotics, robbery and firearms offenses.
The indictment also charges some members in connection with the 2009 death of Lamont Young and a number of attempted murders dating back to 2008.
In all, 20 people were named in the indictment.
The charges include capital crimes and the suspects could face the death penalty.
This is the third major gang raid targeting the City of Newburgh since 2010.
