Police along with the federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms (ATF) raided a house in Newburgh and arrested eight on drug charges.
Authorities say a major drug and gun ring was operating out of a North Miller Avenue house. For the past two months, undercover officers were posing as drug dealers. Police videotaped people buying and selling crack cocaine to the officers. Eight men were arrested in their homes and police issued warrants for two other men.Although police did not find any drugs or weapons inside the house, they say was used as a drug den, they say the arrests could improve conditions in the neighborhood. The owner of the house says she did not know about the drug dealing and says one of the suspects is her carpenter, who had access to her home. She says he took advantage of her property without her knowledge.
