Police in the Town of Montgomery are asking for the public’s help identifying two masked men who robbed a local business at gunpoint Thursday night.

Authorities say the suspects entered the Premium Smoke and Vape on Hawkins Drive around 6:30 p.m. The men displayed a handgun during the robbery and demanded cash according to Montgomery Police Chief John Hank.

“The owner told 911 that he’d been robbed at gunpoint by two Black males that entered the store.” Hank said. “They stole merchandise, too.”

The suspects fled on foot toward Old Neelytown Road, where investigators believe a getaway vehicle - a white or silver four-door sedan - was waiting. Before they left, police say the store clerk was able to secretly record video and snap a photo of the suspects.

“They both had coverings over their face, and he believed he may have been about to be robbed, so he took out his cell phone and was able to get some video,” said Chief Hank.

One of the men was pictured wearing a white Marvel T-shirt. Both wore red bandanas over their faces, and each had on gray and white sneakers.

Hank added that the incident is especially concerning because it happened in a busy shopping plaza during business hours.

“This is very atypical for Montgomery. This is a very busy strip mall, with businesses that were occupied and open at the time,” Hank said.

Authorities say the suspects should be considered armed and dangerous and are warning the public not to approach them.

“Our greatest concern is that this could’ve been a much more serious incident if someone stumbled upon it or tried to intervene. We are asking the public’s help for any information they may have,” Hank said.

Anyone with information is urged to call Detective Daniel Thorson at the Town of Montgomery Police Department at 845-457-9211.
