Local police departments have introduced a new campaign to crack down on intoxicated driving.
The Carmel Police Department, Town of Kent Police Department and the Putnam County Sheriff's Office announced that they will all be patrolling the roads this season as a part of the STOP DWI High Visibility Engagement Campaign.
They say officers will be in marked and unmarked vehicles to deter and detect impaired drivers.
Carmel police encourage citizens to make safe driving plans before any holiday gathering with the “Have a Plan” app. This helps drivers find a ride home and provides interactive information on the dangers of driving under the influence.
