A 17-year-old Yonkers resident was shot in the stomach this weekend.
Police say they began getting calls around 3 p.m. Sunday about shots being fired between Thurman Street and Lakeside Drive, across from School 23.
When investigators arrived at the scene, they found a 17-year-old boy with a gunshot wound to his abdomen.
Basher Marji lives right across from school 23 on Van Cortlandt Park Avenue in Yonkers and he says Sunday afternoon was frightening.
"It was crazy here. You had the cops all over. I couldn't do anything, I had to wait in my house for like a half-hour."
Investigators were able to recover shell casings and say they found at least two different caliber bullets.
The injured teen was arrested for illegal possession of a firearm. Due to his age, police are not releasing his name but they say he is still in the hospital recovering in serious condition.
Police tell News 12 the shooting may be the result of some sort of dispute that escalated to violence, but they are still investigating.
