Police say a Hicksville woman is accused of starving her puppy to death.

A picture was sent of the malnourished puppy to Hempstead Animal Control, according to police.

Officers say they called Gisela Rodriguez, 32, and she allowed them to take the dog away. It died at the vet later that day.

Rodriguez is charged with aggravated cruelty to animals and torturing or injuring animals.
