East Northport man indicted for murder of grandmother's fiancé, new details released

A 24-year-old man is facing charges in connection with a hit-and-run incident that killed a 42-year-old woman in Yorktown.

According to authorities, Jake Barak was traveling on East Main Street on Friday night when he struck Jennifer Proeschel and fled the scene.

Proeschel was taken to a hospital, where she succumbed to her injuries.

Barak was arrested at his home a short time later.
