Police: Man arrested, charged with arson in connection with New Rochelle car explosion

New Rochelle police say an arrest has been made in connection with car fires in New Rochelle on Tuesday evening.

Police say 55-year-old Mark Turner, of New Rochelle is charged with arson and criminal mischief.

Police responded to Lawton Street just after 7 p.m. after a car burst into flames and exploded.

Officials say Turner allegedly set fire to a BMW SUV that was registered under his name.

The flames spread to another SUV and destroyed both vehicles.
