Police arrested a Bronx man Wednesday morning after he allegedly stole a minivan and led officers on a chase through the borough.
Police say the suspect jumped into a blue minivan that was being loaded with boxes of fresh doughnuts around 3:30 a.m. and took off. According to authorities, the driver side door of the van was open while an employee from Twin Donut on Fordham Road was placing doughnuts in the trunk.
Police say they chased the man until he crashed the van into a median at the intersection of 170th Street and Clay Avenue. The police car also crashed into a store when trying to stop. Witnesses say the suspect jumped out of the van and attempted to run away when police officers tackled him and held him down with their feet on his chest.
Two police officers were taken to Lincoln Hospital after the chase with minor injuries.
